AWAKEN FOR ACTION
“Our courts oppose the righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty has been outlawed. Yes, truth is gone, and anyone who renounces evil is attacked. The Lord looked and was displeased to find there was no justice. He was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed. So He Himself stepped in to save them with His strong arm, and His justice sustained Him.” Isaiah 59:14-16 (NLT)
In Isaiah 59, we see the heart of our God, in His own splendor and sacrifice, extend His own righteousness to save a fallen world. In a beautiful exchange, He has redeemed not only those who were oppressed and were in need, He has also come down to show us grace, and how to live out love: Isaiah 61:1 says, “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.”
This verse is a commission to all of us awaken our eyes to see the injustice around us and a call for action. It does not mean we are all called to be a third-world country missionary. It simply means to stand up for the injustice, to meet a need as your capacity and capability permits you in your everyday lives. You see, your eyes are not blind to the injustice for the very reason that you can do something about it.
We hope to inspire, to impact and to stir your hearts to action.
“You may choose to look the other way but you can never say again that you did not know.”
